Low Budget, Indie Films

Every actor claims to love the freedom, the art and the economy of making a low budget film. Why then are they getting paid 20 million dollars for one movie. Do they hate big budget movies?

MPIC and immoblizers

When is Autopac gonna get off the pot and make immobilizers mandatory on all vehicles? Enough of this "most stolen car" BS. I'm pretty sure we all realize by now that the most popular cars to steal will be the ones without immobilizers. Nuff said.

Back to Burma

Apparently donations to the Burmese cyclone victims are less than expected. No kidding. Could it be because the Burmese government is hording supplies instead of getting them to their own people? When will the UN decide to bypass these pricks and get the supplies to the victims?

Wild Horses

Apparently, here in the great white north, we don't believe wild horses exist. In the US they've been protected since 1959 and many have been registered tracing their lineage back to the original spanish horses brought over in the 1600's by the conquistadors. In Canada we have one.

There is a parcel of tribal lands in BC where the horse still roam free but are regarded by the powers that be as feral. In Alberta, that great liberal, forward-thinking province, the wild horses are regarded as a nuisance, stealing grass from domestic cattle. There are even drive-by shootings of wild horses which don't seem to be investigated too thoroughly.

So here in Canada, last bastion of the natural world in North America, champion of the environment, an animal that has been part of the natural world here for almost half a millenium is treated with no more regard than ground squirrels or rats. An animal that helped open the west and spawned the horse-culture of the North American natives is getting shot from the back of pick-up trucks and left to rot.

And why? I can only guess that the government is afraid to annoy the great Alberta ranchers. And of course there is that systemic reluctance to modify a position taken by previous governments. Think about the blood supply scandals of the 90's.

So the wild horses of the great plains, once highly prized for their intelligence and stamina now are forced to life lives of quiet desperation in the scrub forests of the Rockies. Oh Canada. We suck.

Canadian Gas Prices

I may be be mistaken, but I believe that there is more than enough oil being pumped out of the ground in Canada to supply all our fuels needs without imports. That being said; why the hell are we paying world market price for a locally (nationally) produced commodity? Surely the oil companies in Canada can cut the consumer a break on prices and still make their astronomical profits. I don't see why I have to get bent over a desk every time OPEC decides to bump up their profits or the multinationals decide to screw the little guy some more.

Burma

So the Burmese government is holding up relief efforts to the cyclone survivors in order to (A) control distribution or (B) line their pockets. There is an easy solution to this issue. Nato C-130s (escorted by F-18s) can airdrop food and water directly where required thus bypassing the bottleneck. Why is this not happening?
Your guess is as good as mine.
